“8GB RAM rugged phone” can describe physical memory, a combination of physical and virtual memory, or one variant in a broader product family. A supplier quote should define the actual production configuration and the workload it is expected to run.
Write the memory specification precisely
Require the amount of physical RAM, storage capacity, memory extension if offered, chipset, Android version and regional radio variant. If an advertisement says “8GB + 8GB expansion,” ask which portion is physical RAM. Virtual extension uses storage and should not be counted as physical memory in a tender that specifically requires 8GB RAM.
Link the quoted unit to the tested sample
Record the model number, SKU, hardware revision, memory shown by the device and software build of a sample. Ask the supplier to put those identifiers on the purchase order and to notify you before a component substitution. Install the actual work app, synchronize a realistic dataset and test switching among the camera, map and work order under poor network conditions.
Compare a published model without rounding up
