“10,000mAh rugged phone ODM” should be treated as a product-development brief, not as proof that an existing phone can receive a larger battery without other changes. The cell, enclosure, charging circuit, weight and seals are connected design choices. A credible supplier response should identify the proposed platform and show which parts must change.
Write the RFQ as a finished-device requirement
List the battery's rated capacity in mAh and Wh, target work-shift runtime, operating temperature, charging interface, maximum acceptable weight and dimensional limits. State the required ingress and drop-test goals separately. Specify the regional radio bands, Android version and memory for the same SKU. A capacity promise for a battery pack does not establish the assembled phone's performance.
Ask what the ODM change affects
A larger pack can require a different rear housing, bracket, protection circuit or charger. Request a drawing or change list showing these components, and identify who owns the tooling and test reports. If the proposed device is based on a certified platform, ask whether the battery and housing change requires new validation. Do not assume an old ingress or transport report covers a modified model.
Approve a representative sample
- Match the pack part number and capacity document to the sample device's SKU.
- Measure charging behavior, heat and remaining battery through the intended workload.
- Inspect fit, port covers and seals on the actual production-intent enclosure.
- Agree on acceptance tolerances, test conditions, lot traceability and what happens if the production sample differs.
Record the results in a signed sample approval. Marketing photos and a nominal capacity statement are not substitutes for an evaluated finished phone.
Do not reuse the wrong product specification
The current Phonemax X5 retail page lists a 5,000mAh battery. It may be discussed as a compact 4G reference, but it is not evidence of a 10,000mAh ODM configuration. Request a separate project specification for the proposed design.
