When a manufacturer offers a phone for −20°C work, ask for the complete test context. A photograph of a handset in a chamber or a single “pass” label leaves important questions unanswered.

Check identity and conditions

Look for model and hardware revision, battery part, firmware, sample count, temperature profile, soak time and powered state. Confirm that the report concerns the complete handset rather than a component. Record the laboratory and report reference.

Read the functional results

Find the tasks tested, acceptance criteria and any restart, display, touch, audio or charging restriction. Ask how partial failures were treated. A result that covers standby alone should not be summarized as continuous app operation.

Clarify the scope

Distinguish the manufacturer's declared working range from the tested sample result and any warranty terms. Ask how the evidence applies to other radio or memory variants and what changes trigger review.
