Dual-Band Rugged Tablet: Site Wi-Fi Coverage Checks

A dual-band Wi-Fi requirement needs both a documented tablet specification and a site trial. The current T1 listing reviewed for this guide does not establish dual-band support; ask for the exact supported bands before approving the configuration.

Map the work areas before the trial

Identify locations where the app must operate, including loading bays, storage areas and workstations. Record the access-point configuration and the network credentials or managed authentication required by the organization.

  • Confirm the supported Wi-Fi bands and security requirements for the supplied variant.
  • Use the actual app in each required work area and at representative busy times.
  • Check login, record retrieval and uploads; record the location of any failures.
  • If comparing approved band settings, document each setting and repeat the same task.

Separate coverage from generation claims

Keep the band requirement and any requested Wi-Fi generation as separate items in the purchase specification. A successful connection at one desk does not demonstrate coverage across the facility. Review the current T1 configuration and obtain missing radio details from the supplier. Agree a site-specific pass criterion with the network team, then retain the tested device configuration and location results for deployment planning.
