Physical RAM versus Memory Expansion on a Thermal Phone

Some phone listings combine physical RAM with a software memory-expansion figure. These are not the same resource. Buyers comparing a “12 GB” thermal phone should ask how much is physical memory and how the remainder is implemented.

Read the specification precisely

Request the model variant, physical RAM and any advertised expansion amount separately. Expansion typically uses storage as a supplement; it should not be represented as equivalent to physical RAM for demanding capture and analysis tasks.

Test a memory-heavy sequence

Capture several thermal images, annotate them, open a map and export a report without restarting the device. Check app retention and export time, then repeat after the device has been in use for hours.

Compare total fit

Storage capacity, security updates, software support and battery behavior may matter more than an expanded-memory label. Write the physical and expanded figures separately in a procurement table so every quoted variant is evaluated on the same basis.
