2.0GHz Rugged Tablets: Verify the Processor and Workload

A “2.0GHz octa-core” description should name the processor and the offered tablet configuration. It should not imply that every core always runs at that rate or guarantee application performance.

Current Phonemax platform reference

The current T1 and N1 listings identify MediaTek Helio G80. MediaTek describes that platform as two Cortex-A75 CPUs operating up to 2GHz plus six Cortex-A55 CPUs. This is a chip-platform description, not a benchmark of either tablet.

Read the full configuration

T1 Gray is listed with 6GB RAM, 128GB storage and Android 16; Green with 8GB RAM, 128GB storage and Android 10. N1 is listed with 6GB RAM, 128GB storage and Android 16. Do not transfer a result between versions solely because the processor name matches.

Define a useful workload check

  • Install the actual forms, mapping or reporting applications.
  • Check opening a representative document and completing a full record.
  • Check switching between the applications needed during a job.
  • Record software versions, configuration and observed delays or failures.

Choose on observed task fit

A processor label is one input to a buying decision. Ask the supplier to demonstrate your workload rather than inventing a speed score from clock frequency or core count.
