Include a denied-notification case when evaluating a work app on Android 13 or later. An operator who dismisses or refuses a prompt may miss the normal alert path, so the team needs a documented way to recognize the state and recover through approved settings.
Why a fresh installation matters
Android's notification permission documentation explains that Android 13 and higher uses a runtime permission for non-exempt notifications. New installations and eligible upgraded installations can start with different permission states. A successful test on an old installation therefore does not establish the first-day experience on a new unit.
Proposed onboarding checks
| State | Check |
|---|---|
| New installation | Record when the prompt appears and what task explanation is shown |
| Permission denied | Check whether the app identifies the missing permission and offers an understandable recovery route |
| Permission restored | Send a new test event and record receipt; do not assume old events will replay |
Use non-critical sample events. Define a separate operational fallback for important jobs with the application owner. Granting notification permission alone does not prove server delivery, network availability or an escalation service.
The current T1 has Gray Android 16 and Green Android 10 versions. The Android 13 permission rule should not be presented as the Green version's behavior. Test the exact purchased version and app release.
No notification delivery or timing has been measured here. Connect this onboarding exercise to your app acceptance matrix, and send Phonemax the deployment requirements before ordering.
