OEM phone branding needs a change review whenever the requested work affects the housing, openings, labels, accessories or software. A logo request and a new enclosure design have different implications. Define the change precisely before assuming existing product evidence still covers the result.
Separate the requested changes
| Request | Question for the project team |
|---|---|
| Logo or artwork | Where is it applied, with what process and approved file? |
| Housing colour or finish | Does the change alter material, coating or assembly? |
| Button or opening | What mechanical parts and closures change? |
| Included case or cradle | Does fit, retention or connector access need review? |
| Software branding | Which screens, apps or settings change in the released build? |
These are review questions, not a statement that every change requires the same tests. Ask the responsible engineering team to identify the affected evidence and confirm what remains applicable.
Freeze artwork and configuration together
Keep the approved artwork revision with the model and hardware configuration. Check spelling, contrast, placement and the supplied packaging on the approval sample. If a label contains technical claims, make sure the wording matches the documentation for that exact configuration.
The IEC 60529 publication addresses enclosure protection classification. It does not establish that a modified enclosure retains the same result as an earlier version. Request the supplier's assessment rather than carrying a protection claim forward automatically.
Include software in the sign-off
A boot logo alone is a different request from preinstalling business apps or changing settings. List each requested software change and agree what must be shown on the sample. Confirm who owns the app configuration and how a later software change will be communicated.
Handle changes after approval
Give every later request a revision and record whether the approved sample must be updated. Do not approve a production run against one artwork file while the project team is discussing a different version by email.
This guide describes a proposed approval process; it does not promise specific customization options, minimum quantities or retained protection results. Send Phonemax the model and requested changes to confirm feasibility, documentation, sample scope and quotation.
