Is 700 nits enough for a rugged phone outdoors? It can be a useful brightness target, but the current Phonemax catalog check did not find a product page explicitly verifying a 700-nit display. The previous page treated that number as a current product specification, so it has been corrected.
What a nit measures
Nits measure display luminance. Higher brightness can improve outdoor visibility, but readability also depends on reflectivity, contrast, screen coating, viewing angle and direct-sun conditions.
Current large-screen rugged reference
The Phonemax P20 Pro current product materials list a 6.6-inch 120Hz display. This page does not assign a 700-nit brightness figure to it because the reviewed current product documentation does not publish that number.
Why “sunlight readable” needs evidence
A marketing phrase without a published brightness figure is difficult to compare across devices. For field procurement, request the actual luminance specification or test documentation when outdoor readability is critical.
Other factors to check
- Display size and resolution.
- Peak and typical brightness.
- Anti-reflection treatment.
- Touch behavior with gloves or rain.
- Battery impact at high brightness.
Bottom line
700 nits remains a useful comparison threshold, but it is not currently verified here as a Phonemax model specification. Use the exact current display documentation before making a brightness-sensitive purchase.
