6.5-Inch IP68 Rugged Phone: Match Screen and Test Report

A 6.5-inch screen and IP68 rating must be documented for the same handset variant. A buyer should not combine the display size of one model with the ingress claim of another. The first step is to say whether 6.5 inches is an exact minimum or a rounded target for a work app.

Measure the useful display area

Request the active diagonal, resolution and brightness for the quoted SKU. Run the intended app on a sample with the text size workers will use. Check visibility outdoors and the number of fields shown without scrolling. When a mount or protective case is involved, also record body dimensions and weight; a screen diagonal does not determine physical fit.

Read the ingress evidence

Ask for the IP68 report identifying the full device, ports, seals and test conditions. The rating does not promise protection under every depth, duration or liquid. Clarify the manufacturer's stated immersion conditions and whether the claim applies after repair or impact. A brochure's “waterproof” label should not replace these details.

Compare current models honestly

The Phonemax X5 lists IP68 protection, but its listed display is 5.3 inches. It cannot be an exact 6.5-inch display match. If a supplier proposes another model, request its own screen specification and ingress report for the offered region and production version. Do not transfer the X5's rating to a different device.

Decision record

Use separate pass/fail rows for screen measurement, app readability, IP evidence and actual sale SKU. An approximate size may be acceptable when the real goal is readable forms; document that tolerance before approval. If 6.5 inches is a fixed tender condition, leave the row open until a matching product is shown.
