An exact 1.77-inch screen request often comes from a carry or mounting constraint. Before choosing the smallest-looking phone, determine whether the limit applies to the display diagonal, the entire handset, or the ability to read a particular interface. These are different measurements.
Measure the right object
Request the active screen diagonal, native resolution, body width, height, thickness and weight for the exact sale configuration. A diagonal does not reveal the width available for a line of text. If a holster, vest pocket or vehicle mount is involved, test the physical unit and the connector with those accessories.
Check the task at real scale
Show the longest contact name, work order, map label and alert that the user must read. Test outdoor glare, one-handed input and touch targets with the expected gloves. A smaller panel may require scrolling or make controls difficult to hit; document whether the app can change text size without clipping actions.
Use published compact-model facts accurately
The Phonemax R4 Mini product page gives a body size of 121 × 59.5 × 15.5 mm and about 150 g. Those dimensions help assess pocket and mount fit, but do not establish a 1.77-inch screen. Obtain the actual display specification if that number is mandatory. Also verify the correct regional network variant before buying for a different country.
Decision sheet
Record three outcomes independently: exact screen size, physical carry fit and successful use of the required app. A device that fits the pocket but fails legibility should not pass simply because its diagonal is small. When screen size is only a proxy for portability, write the real body-size and task requirements instead.
