A pressure-resistance requirement and authorization to use an electronic flight bag are separate questions. Define whether the tablet is for ground work, carriage or operational flight information before choosing evidence or describing it as aviation-ready.
Route the request to the right reviewer
| Requirement | Evidence or decision needed |
|---|---|
| Specified pressure exposure | Applicable conditions, operating state and test report for the proposed device |
| Aircraft installation | Review of the exact mounting and power arrangement by the responsible aviation specialists |
| Operational EFB use | Operator's program, applications, procedures and applicable authorization requirements |
| Ground maintenance use | The actual task, environment and organizational approvals |
The FAA's AC 120-76E gives guidance on operational EFB authorization for the operator categories stated in its scope. It is not a device certificate, and it should not be applied as though every tablet use or jurisdiction has the same approval route.
State what remains unverified
Ask the supplier to identify the exact device configuration and any available environmental evidence. Have the operator's qualified reviewer determine what applies to the proposed use. Do not equate an IP label or a general MIL-STD statement with pressure-test compliance, aircraft installation approval or EFB authorization.
The N1 listing positions the device for rally navigation and roadbooks. It does not establish aviation pressure-test results, an approved aircraft installation or an authorized EFB configuration. This guide reports no aviation evaluation.
Use the test-report evidence guide and contact Phonemax with the exact requirement and intended use before a project review.
