Thermal Phone Detection Range: Questions to Ask a Supplier

A long-distance figure is meaningful only with a defined test. Before citing “500 m” in a procurement document, ask what was detected and which camera, lens and environment produced the result.

Request the test definition

Ask for target size, target-to-background contrast, distance measurement, weather, native sensor resolution and field of view. Clarify whether “detection” meant noticing a heat source, recognizing its class or identifying a particular object.

Review original evidence

Request an unedited image or video from the exact configuration, including an ordinary visible-light view of the same scene. Ask whether digital zoom or post-processing was used. A demonstration with an unusually large or hot target may not transfer to the buyer's smaller target.

Put conditions in the quote
