R4-T lists 4G LTE support, but a band match alone does not confirm that your carrier will activate the phone or support calls on your plan. Check the exact model, the carrier’s acceptance process and the services you need. This guide gives you the published R4-T bands, a carrier enquiry template and a decision table for interpreting the answer.
This guide is specifically about R4-T network suitability. For its rear screen and night vision, read the R4-T feature-use guide; for thermal imaging, see the R4-T versus R4 GT comparison.
Which 4G LTE bands does the R4-T list?
| Network type | Published R4-T bands |
|---|---|
| 4G FDD-LTE | B1, B2, B3, B4, B5, B7, B8, B12, B13, B14, B17, B18, B19, B20, B25, B26, B28A, B28B, B66, B71 |
| 4G TDD-LTE | B34, B38, B39, B40, B41 |
| 2G GSM | 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz |
| SIM format | Dual Nano SIM, as listed on the R4-T product page |
The band numbers above are transcribed from the official R4-T specification. Give your operator the complete list, including the B28A/B28B labels, when checking a requirement involving that band. This is a hardware-support list, not a country-by-country compatibility certificate.
Ask Phonemax to help with the pre-purchase check
Send the country, carrier or virtual operator, plan/SIM type and required services. Our product-support team can help compare the published model information with your requirements and request clarification on the device configuration. The operator remains the source for its activation and service-acceptance decision.

Support hours in UTC and selected time zones
The published 09:00–18:00 Beijing working-day window equals 01:00–10:00 UTC.
| Time zone | Equivalent service window |
|---|---|
| UK: GMT / BST | 01:00–10:00 GMT / 02:00–11:00 BST |
| Central Europe: CET / CEST | 02:00–11:00 CET / 03:00–12:00 CEST |
| US Eastern: EST / EDT | 20:00 on the previous day–05:00 EST / 21:00 on the previous day–06:00 EDT |
Use the applicable standard or daylight-saving offset. The working-day schedule follows Beijing dates.
Why matching one LTE band is not enough
A frequency match is one check; activation and voice support are separate checks. Local coverage also matters because the bands used at your location may differ from the operator’s wider network.
Use the official guidance for the country and operator you will actually use:
- UK example: Vodafone 4G Calling compatibility guidance.
- Japan example: NTT DOCOMO guidance for a non-DOCOMO device.
- Indonesia example: Telkomsel VoLTE requirements and supported-device information.
- US examples: T-Mobile BYOD guide and Verizon BYOD check.
For another European or Southeast Asian country, use the guidance of the operator or virtual operator supplying your plan, then check the exact R4-T unit.
Three checks before buying
1. Ask about the exact model and plan
Identify the device as Phonemax R4-T. Include the country, carrier and plan you intend to use. For a virtual operator, ask the provider selling your plan to confirm support.
If the operator uses an IMEI checker, follow its official process for the exact unit. Ask Phonemax about pre-purchase verification if an IMEI is needed before you have the phone. Use a result for R4-T itself; similar R4-family names are not interchangeable.
2. Confirm ordinary calls as well as data
Ask whether incoming and outgoing voice calls, SMS and 4G data are supported for your device and plan. Where VoLTE is required, ask about it explicitly. Treat Wi-Fi calling and other operator features as separate services to verify.
The R4-T page lists 2G GSM support. That does not establish that a usable 2G network exists at your destination or that voice calls can fall back to it. Base the decision on the services currently available from your operator.
3. Check the travel or second-SIM arrangement
The listed format is dual Nano SIM. If you plan to use a home SIM and a travel SIM, check the plans, roaming access and which line you will use for calls and data. The listing does not establish eSIM support or simultaneous service behavior for both lines. Confirm any specific two-line requirement with Phonemax and your provider.
How to interpret your carrier's answer
| Carrier response | Your next step |
|---|---|
| Exact unit accepted; required calls, SMS and data confirmed | Proceed with that configuration and plan, then test the services after delivery. Local coverage still affects use. |
| Frequencies match, but activation or VoLTE is unconfirmed | Resolve the missing check before relying on the phone. Ask whether an exact-unit IMEI check or sample evaluation is needed. |
| Device rejected, or an essential service is unsupported | Choose a carrier-approved model or another plan whose provider confirms the required support. |
A message you can send to your carrier
I am considering the Phonemax R4-T, a 4G LTE phone using Nano SIM. My country is [country] and my plan is [plan]. Its published FDD-LTE bands are B1/B2/B3/B4/B5/B7/B8/B12/B13/B14/B17/B18/B19/B20/B25/B26/B28A/B28B/B66/B71; TDD-LTE bands are B34/B38/B39/B40/B41. Can you confirm device acceptance, activation, incoming/outgoing calls, SMS and mobile data on this plan? Is VoLTE required, and do you need the exact unit's IMEI to check it?
Use the carrier's private support or official checker. Do not post the unit's IMEI in a public blog comment.
What should I test after the phone arrives?
With Wi-Fi switched off, make and receive a normal call, exchange a text and open a webpage over mobile data. Repeat your normal work or travel task in the places where you expect to use the device. For two SIMs, test each intended line and the selected data line.
If something fails, record whether it is activation, calling, messaging or data, along with your country, carrier and any error message. That is more useful for support than reporting only “no signal.” The existing R4-T setup guide covers the broader first-use routine.
R4-T connectivity questions
Is the R4-T a 5G phone?
The current R4-T listing publishes 4G LTE and 2G GSM bands; it does not list 5G NR support. Choose another model if 5G is required.
Can I use an eSIM?
The published SIM format is dual Nano SIM. eSIM support is not established by that specification, so plan around a compatible physical Nano SIM unless Phonemax confirms otherwise.
Will R4 GT automatically work wherever R4-T works?
No automatic compatibility conclusion follows from the similar names. Check the exact model, carrier and unit through the operator's process.

Sources and review date
R4-T published network bands and SIM format; T-Mobile BYOD guide; Verizon BYOD check.
Reviewed on 17 October 2026. Phonemax sells these devices. Band and SIM data come from the product specification; no carrier tests are reported here. Operator links explain checking procedures and do not establish R4-T approval. The official contact page currently routes consumer support to marketing@phonemax.com and publishes working-day service hours; it does not publish a fixed response-time commitment or carrier-compatibility guarantee. Activation and required-service acceptance must be confirmed with your operator.
