A 5,000 mAh battery figure does not predict how long a thermal phone can inspect equipment. The infrared sensor, display, camera recording, network and processor all draw power. Use a repeatable field test before promising a shift length.
Fix the test settings
Record the exact model, software version, battery state, brightness, network mode and ambient temperature. Run the intended thermal app with the same capture frequency used by workers. Include calls and data uploads if those are part of the shift.
Measure useful work
Log start and end battery percentages and the number of inspections completed. Repeat on several days. Charging behavior matters too: test the supplied charger and note whether the phone can safely charge between assignments under the manufacturer's instructions.
Compare configurations fairly
Do not compare one supplier's standby figure with another supplier's active thermal runtime. Ask for the exact capacity and accessory configuration of each candidate. Keep a reserve for unexpected calls and travel rather than planning to finish a shift at zero charge.
