120Hz and IP68 Rugged Phone: Screen Mode and Ingress Evidence

A phone advertised as both 120Hz and IP68 must meet two independent requirements. Refresh rate describes how often the screen updates; IP68 refers to specified dust and water ingress testing. A buyer should find both in the documentation for the same finished-device variant.

Verify the screen mode

Ask for the panel's supported modes and whether 120Hz can be selected in the production software. Check resolution and brightness separately. A 120Hz panel may still display an app at a lower frame rate, so test scrolling and the actual app rather than treating the screen number as a performance guarantee.

Verify the IP68 result

Request an ingress report naming the final model and its water-test conditions. Inspect the sample's port covers, seals and any change to the housing or screen assembly. IP68 does not mean unlimited immersion or resistance to every liquid. If the display module or enclosure changes for a high-refresh variant, ask whether the old ingress report still applies.

Run one combined pilot

1. Record the exact SKU, software build, screen mode and current ingress document.
2. Run the target app at the selected refresh setting and measure battery use across a normal shift.
3. Inspect and test the same enclosure configuration intended for shipment.

The current Phonemax X5 page states IP68 but does not establish a 120Hz refresh mode. It can serve as an IP-rated compact reference, not as proof of the requested 120Hz-IP68 combination.
