Tablet Photo Access: Separate Camera Capture from Gallery Import

Test taking a new job photo and importing an existing image as separate operations. An app that can use the camera may still fail when selecting a photo made by another application, and a broad “storage allowed” checklist can hide that difference.

Build a small image-access test

  1. Use non-sensitive sample images with clearly different labels. Record the tablet build and app release.
  2. Capture a new photo inside the work app, save the job and reopen it.
  3. Import an image created outside that app using its supported selection route.
  4. Decline the requested media access where appropriate, then check the explanation and approved recovery path. Confirm that an unrelated photo is not attached by mistake.

Understand the Android 13 distinction

Android's guidance for apps targeting Android 13 or higher describes granular permissions for reading images, video and audio created by other apps. It also points developers toward the photo picker where suitable. The app's target version and chosen access method matter; do not tell every operator to grant every media permission.

Result What it establishes
In-app camera capture works That tested capture-and-save path only
Gallery import works The tested selection source and access state only
Record reopens with correct image The saved association in that test case

The T1 listing separates Gray Android 16 from Green Android 10; do not infer either version's permission screens from an Android 13 article title. These are suggested tests, with no compatibility or privacy certification claimed.

Also review document capture legibility. Contact Phonemax with the actual app and selected configuration.
