Waterproof Phone Factory Orders: Track the Approved Sample to Each Lot

For a factory phone order, keep a traceable connection between the sample you approved, the specification you signed and the production lot delivered. A successful sample review loses value if later changes to the housing, components or software are not recorded.

Give the approved sample an identity

Record the model, sample identifier, hardware revision, software build and supplied accessories. Keep photographs of the sample and the relevant specification version. If the device has configurable port covers or a case, record how it was assembled during evaluation.

Store the acceptance record in the same project folder as the purchase specification. This is a proposed purchasing control, not a claim about a particular Phonemax factory process.

A practical lot record

Record Purpose
Approved specification revision Identifies the requirements used for release
Sample and build identifiers Connects the evaluation to a known configuration
Lot or delivery reference Connects incoming units to the order
Change notice Explains any difference from the approved baseline
Release and incoming checks Records what was checked and any unresolved exceptions

Keep type-test evidence distinct from lot checks

A model's protection report and a factory's routine checks answer different questions. Ask which configuration the report identifies and which checks are performed on production units. Do not infer that every shipped phone underwent the complete qualification test simply because a model report exists.

The IEC 60529 listing identifies an enclosure-protection standard. It does not describe a supplier's production controls or certify a delivery lot.

Resolve substitutions before dispatch

Agree how the supplier will notify you about a proposed component, housing or software change. Decide who can approve it and which evidence must be reviewed again. A written exception is easier to evaluate before dispatch than after devices have entered service.

On receipt, compare model labels and the agreed configuration with the order record, then follow the planned sampling and functional checks. This article does not prescribe a sampling rate or report completed inspection results.

Contact Phonemax with the intended quantity, approved-sample requirements and documentation expectations. Confirm the available process and deliverables for your project in writing.
