Thermal Phone Ranges: Measurement, Operation and Display

Keep the target measurement range, the phone's operating environment and the displayed colour scale separate. A request for “−20°C to 550°C” cannot be fulfilled merely by adjusting an image palette or copying a generic range into a product description.

The current P20 Pro measurement reference

The P20 Pro's published thermal specification graphic states −15°C to 550°C for temperature measurement. Do not extend its lower limit to −20°C without documentation for the exact offered configuration. The graphic is a manufacturer specification, not an independent range-validation report.

Do not infer an adjustable span feature

Ask for a demonstration of the supplied thermal application's controls. Check whether the operator can change the displayed scale, switch measurement ranges or only select palettes. Record the function as demonstrated rather than describing every thermal camera as having the same adjustment options.

Resolve a requirement outside the published range

If the task requires measurement at −20°C, ask the supplier for evidence covering that requirement or evaluate a different documented device. A hotter upper limit does not compensate for an unsupported lower limit. A target's temperature also does not specify a safe environment for the phone or operator.
